18650 Battery Wiring
The batteries pictured below are 18650 - 3.7volt Lithium Ion's at 2400 mah hours each

Batteries in series
The voltage adds together for each battery in series..
The mah (milliamp hours) or current capacity is the same as one of the cells.

Batteries in Parallel
The voltage total is the same as each individual battery.
The mah (milliamp hours) or current capacity is the total of each battery in the battery pack.

 Batteries in Series/Parallel

Assemble the Series sets first:
The voltage adds together for each battery in series.
The mah (milliamp hours) or current capacity is the same as one of the cells in the series set.

Series sets are then put into Parallel with each other:
The voltage is the same as each series set.
The mah (milliamp hours) or current capacity is the total of each series set.

Parallel wiring
All the battery Positives are connected
All the battery Negatives are connected.
The capacity is 4 x 2400 mah = 9600 mah total capacity
This is a 3.7 Volt battery pack.
Series/Parallel wiring
Each series set is  3.7 volts x 2 = 7.4 volts total
Each series set is 2400 mah capacity
The total battery pack capacity is (series set 1 + series set 2) = 4800 mah capacity
This is a 7.4 Volt battery pack.
