Still building an AB763 for a friend. His amp had three pre tubes and I'm going to five pre tubes. What is a safe distance to space the pre tubes fro eack other? Pre tubes from the PI? PI from the power tubes? Power tubes from each other? And rect tube from the power tubes and out put jack PT or anything else? Chassis is 22" wide and I can move stuff. Hard for me to just eyeball it from photos. Thanks

I like to keep tubes about 2" apart from center to center.A little more between power tubes and about 1/4" more between PI and power tubes.I really don't think it matters a whole lot if the preamp tubes are a bit closer.

They *can* be pretty close if they have to be, but it can invite trouble. Look how close they are in the Hammond AO-35. I built a Hoffman Stout in one of those, which is a preamp tube, PI, and two EL84 all that close. (this picture isn't mine - just a web-find).

It's simple,
The parts for each tube are all grouped together.
Put the tubes right in front of the circuitry on the board.
Do you have your board?
1.5" center to center on preamp sized tubes seems to work well

how about for power tubes?

for power tubes .....
and I suppose you don't want to use a fan
the most amp I've seen put between a tube and another one near the same space you use for one tube
put 7 sockets near each other, pull the 3 in the middle and you have your space for 4 tubes
