Title: Randy Hansen Machine Gun
Post by: Ritchie200 on September 25, 2010, 12:16:39 am
I've posted on Randy before about what a nice guy he is as well as an awesome player.  Just found this on u-toob.  THis is great pro shot video and audio.  All I can say is WOW!  This is a cover of Jimi's Band of Gypsy's live Machine Gun.  As my daughters would say O....M....G!!!!  The guy is simply incredible.

Enjoy!

That makeup is spooky
Obviously he has spent a ton of time trying to be a Hendrix clone

He does a nice job of copying performance #2 at the filmore from the album

Funny how performance #1 and #2 the same day sounded completely different
When I hear recordings from the first show Hendrix did that night, it throws me a curve cause I have the second show etched in my brain

Yeah, performance 1 is completely different.  It's like he was stretching out for the long run later in the night.  His playing was kind-of tight.

Makeup?!?!  That's the way he looks!  He used to have his hair in a big fro.  THAT was creepy!  He is a really really nice guy.  Very humble.  Those are big shoes he is trying to fill - maybe not fill, but pay tribute to.  Glad you liked it.

That's one of the best vocals of his I've heard.  I'm not crazy about clones, but when someone nails it as well as this guy, you have to give props where they're due.  I first learned about him from here (probably one of your posts) and I continue to be amazed.
