Title: New high output LED
Post by: EL34 on September 29, 2010, 12:21:37 pm
I added a High output LED to my web store
http://www.hoffmanamps.com/MyStore/catalog/parts20.htm

Drive them somewhere around 3.6 volts at 20 to 30 milliamps

Here's a pic of one
Only 5mm in diameter and 14000 mcd
(http://www.hoffmanamps.com/MyStore/catalog/images/IMG_6130.jpg)

This is a pic of the LED being run at 25 milliamps on the bench

It blinded the camera

Note that I put 3 of these in series to test running them on 12 volts
Can't remember what current limit resistor I used, but they worked great and would not suck much current from a emergency battery.

This page will help you calculate the current limit resistor
there are two different calculators on this page
