Not being much into soldi staet(can't even spell it) stuff,I'm looking at a pedal mod that subs 1n4002 diodes in place of zeners.Looking at the data sheet for the 1n4002 it's the same across the board as a 1n4007 except the voltage handling.Now I have tons of 1n4007's and they fit fine in the pedal.Any reason I should get 1n4002's instead?

If this were 1973 all over again, or you are buying millions, or you ONLY do 9V work, 1N4002 could be a penny cheaper.
I remember when 1N4007 didn't exist, and then when it was frightfully more expensive. But I remember choo-choo trains and other legendary beasts too.
Buying small quantities, the price difference is slim to none. OTOH a 10-bag of 1N1007 may be cheaper than six 1N1002, and can be used over 100V.

Yeah I remember those things too.I also remember my 1960 Pontiac and 1960 Rambler with the Nash seats.Had lots of fun at drive ins with that car until the crosslink in the steering broke.(hitting that curb did'nt help it)No parts anywhere for it.And of course i had to hit the carb to free up the sticky float every so often.
Ah,the good old days.
