Title: What voltage filter caps for brown-face Bassman?
Post by: markmalin on November 08, 2010, 07:48:21 pm
Hi guys,

I've got a brown face (tan tolex) Bassman on my bench.  The filter caps are toast so I wanted to replace them with Sprague Atoms.  Thing is, the caps that came in the amp are 20 uf 525V, and I see the only Atoms that will fit in the doghouse are 20 uf 500V.  Is it necessary to find some alternat caps at 525V, or can I go with the 500V ones?

Thanks
Mark.

The 500v Atoms will be fine.

You should be able to get away with 450-475v caps in that amp.
