Title: Gorn in New ST?
Post by: Bassmanster on December 01, 2010, 09:22:45 am
"There’s a part of me that’s still hoping that the next Trek will feature a new version of an old villain from the original series, like the Gorn. Then again, Orci is on the record as a fan of the great Star Trek book Prime Directive — maybe we’ll some some elements of that book in the sequel? What do you think, PopWatchers? Do you want a whole new storyline, or are you hankering for some Klingons?"

I liked the recent ST movie a lot--much more than I expected.  I thought the new cast was great.

I don't really care what they do in the next one as long as it's a well written story.  They can pretty much pick and choose whatever they want from the old series, and they don't have to worry about maintaining any old timelines because the previous movie completely scrambled all that.

Just to show what an ST geek I am, here's a few of my favorites:

Doomsday Machine
Journey to Babel
Devil in the Dark
Errand of Mercy
Charlie X
Tribbles
City...Edge...Forever
Arena

Yup, they did scramble it, but with a reason that will support anywhere between a few and a lot of changes. Also for a five year mission, they have plenty of time NOT covered in the old series or the first movies.

The producers are considering two projects: "Bareback Planet", where Kirk and Spock finally realize that they're wearing silly pajamas, take them off, begin to live nekked and raise alien cattle on a moutain, and the crossover "Alien vs. Predator vs. Hannibal Lecter vs. the Little Lady from Pasadena" with Leslie Nielsen as a dead guest star.

Live long and prosper.

I think Gorn should have arrived at the fight scene in a muscle car
