Hi,
I know that this is fundamentally an American forum, but has anyone had experience of Sowter Transformers in the UK?
I see that they are now doing some guitar-amp transformers, mostly Marshall replacements.
I used them before for broadcast transformers and found them good to work with, and I'm now wondering about using them for making amp transformers as it costs an arm and a leg to ship stuff from the US.
Any experiences?
Thanks
cheers

Really nice hifi and pro audio iron, quite expensive. No experience with their MI-oriented stuff, but they don't seem competitive. For instance their U073 retails for £158.87, around $250.00 at today's exchange rate. Doug sells the excellent 018343 for $75.00... You can get two transformers plus international shipping for less than $200, top that with 20% UK VAT if you're unlucky, and two transformers will cost $240 or so...
