Title: New Build Help
Post by: heymymy on December 15, 2010, 07:49:11 am
I have a new build 5F6-A that I'm working on, and I can't figure out why when I turn it on and try to play through it,
the Bright volume just hums as you turn it up, no signal, and the normal volume is about 1watt of volume when you turn it
all the way up and play.  It doesn't sound like when an OT blows though, it sounds great, just super quiet.  Any ideas where to
start troubleshooting?  Thanks!

Post your voltages. That's a starting place.

Chopstick the board and see if you have any loose solder joints.

If you used shielded wiring, make sure the inner wire is not shorting to ground.

Go over the schematic with a highlighter pen as you check each section of the amp for good solder joints and appropriate component values particularly on the resistors.
