Title: Legacy VL100 Head 25watts MOD
Post by: Travis_W on December 23, 2010, 07:41:10 am
I really appreciate your time and just need an opinion/or how to on something....

I have the first Legacy VL100 Head which only switches down to
50-watts...the new Legacy II will switch down to 25 watts....

I want to MOD my amp so it can switch down to 25watts?? or is this possible
with no mods?? Do I just need to switch out the switch...hahaha you know
what I mean....

Thank you for your valuable time as it greatly appreciated.

Hope this is not an old question....could not find it on this site anywhere...

If you compare the schematics, you'll notice that the power switches work differently in Legacy and Legacy II.

In your amp the power switch turns off one pair of tubes.

In Legacy II the power switch reduces the supply voltage to phase inverter.

Manual says:

For early power tube saturation move this switch to 50 or 25 watts

but I think it should say early phase inverter tube saturation.
