Title: Removing Bell Cover for Weber 12S
Post by: gmoon on January 01, 2011, 10:43:46 am
I'd like to test replace the speaker in a old 6V6 PP amp. The original speaker is a Quam, and sounds pretty good, but it's old and there's some odd fluttering above 12 o'clock.

I'd like to sub in a Weber Alnico 12S that's been sitting around for a couple years. Unfortunately, there's only about 1/4 clearance between the OT and the magnet of the Quam. No way will the Weber fit, at least with the bell cover.

Anyone successfully removed the cover on a Weber Signature speaker? Any tricks to it, or is as simple as it looks?

No tricks. Gently turn the endbell, remove it, done.

Thanks, FYL. I removed it yesterday--it just popped off when I gently pried with a screwdriver.

It still may not fit the cab; the basket itself might contact the OT...
