Just stumbled upon this page (http://www.hifitubes.nl/weblog/index.php/rewire-rectifier-sockets-for-tube-substitution/) with a clever socket wiring scheme allowing to use most 5V valves - 5AR4, 5AS4, 5AT4, 5AU4, 5AW4, 5AX4, 5AZ4, 5CG4, 5R4, 5T4, 5U4, 5V3, 5V4, 5W4, 5X4, 5Y3, 5Y4, 5Z4, 5931, 6087, and 6106. Could be useful.

WOW!
So simple!
I've booked marked it and will likely wire all my 5V rectos like that from now on
Thanks!

Where is the universal B+ lead?

Where is the universal B+ lead?
I would think any of pins 2, 7 or 8 could be used.....IOW, any one of the filament connections.
I would probably use pin 8.

Where is the universal B+ lead?
Just looked thru TDSL at all those recto tubes,
Pin 8 is the universal B+
Ray
seems the only real different recto tube is the 5Y4
The way I've been wiring for years now is pretty universal :angel
