Title: 12" Celestions. Date code DG3 T1221 from Marshall cab of same era. Recone?
Post by: six el six on January 16, 2011, 06:57:30 am
I have three Celestion T1221  date code DG3  speakers pulled from a Marshall 4x12 (mid seventies, the cab was beat to hell and back). I'm considering reconing them. Initial use will be for a 1974x 18watt. I tried one out in the amp and it sounded good but the cones are definitely beat. Would somebody help me identify these? The magnet covers are gone. Some people are not reconing fans. Any advice? Those of you with experience in this , would you recone or simply get something new? If new, what do you like for this circuit? Those who think reconing is a good idea please advise on reconing services (I'm leaning towards Weber). Bottom line; I can get whatever I want for this circuit. What would you do?

T1221 = G12M "Greenback"
DG3 = July 3rd 1971

Should be fitted with a Pulsonic 102 003 lead 75hz cone.

If the speakers are OK, no need to have them reconed.

Has anybody had a recone done by Weber and what did you think about the results. Subjective is good. Get jiggy w/it.
