Title: YSR1 Traynor 67-72?
Post by: plexi50 on January 23, 2011, 04:43:57 pm
I just picked up this amp in trade for building a weber 6M18 TMD Kit

I cant believe this. The amp has never been cracked open / It was sealed so well i thought it might be the model that the top did not lift off from

All tubes are high end RCA including RCA EL34's with the dual top getters

I pluged it in and tested the bias and it is -37 ma @ 433VDC

I flipped the standby on and the amp is just incredible in tone / Not a crackle or noise what so ever / Reverb and Trem is sweet

It's the most quiet amp i have seen in a while. I at least expected the Mallory PS caps to need changing but there excellent

The sweet point here is the preamp stages are running at 132VDC & 146VDC & B+ is 433-35VDC

The pots are not date coded seeing as this was made in Canada so i have to find another way to date this amp

It has a 60's power cord on it with the small lines running the length of the cord

Anyone know how else to date the amp? Transformers is all i can think of when i can get to find the numbers

Rubber bumpers denote '70's, probably '72 or so:  http://www.0rigami.com/vb/models.html
There's probably a date code on the pots.

those power resistors look like they may have a date code on them. i'm thinking the electrolytics probably will too.

nice find.

Don't know the date but great amp. I've seen a few of these and they all sound great.

Thanks all for the info. I suppose it is a 1972 model. This resistor says so
