I'm a little confused because my original plan was just to solder the resistor as in v2
to the gain pot. Rookie mistake? Or from the out of the gain to pin 7. I want to tame the gain a little.
But someone told me to do it as in the other drawing.
Unhook the cap and solder them together there and then put in the resistor leg.
It seems like a bit of a shaky way. I'm not confident in the soldered connection of the legs.
What is the best way?

Do it like the second drawing. The first drawing does nothing.

I had a feeling that was the right way.
Do I wrap the leads around each other a little and then solder them?
