All of the work is finished except for the dreaded heater filiment wiring. I could be playing thi in 30 minutes but i think i will procrastinate and finish it tommorrow
Man this sucks the life from my eyes anymore. I need to get a pair of those magnifier glasses

Hi Plexi50
are comfortable to use those turrets ?

Yeah turrets are nice. Eyelets work as well for me seeing as all my wiring to the tubes and pots is done under the board

I never minded the heater wiring, and my near vision gets worse weekly. I bought 2 pair of reading glasses, one strength for the computer and general work and a much stronger pair for soldering and detail work. The dollar store is awesome for those kind of things!
Now wiring up control pots... yeah I procrastinate on those!

OH! nice job! looks like a real clean build!
Do give us a FULL review when you're done with all the gory details, voltages, values, mods, speakers, cab that sort of stuff!

Well my insane drive got me to finish the amp at 10:00 PM /
One loud sucker. The plate is 335VDC & the bias is -11.27 ^
Sounds good but i want to double check that bias number tommorrow and i mean TOMMORR O / Not tonight / maybe? NO!

OK, I was meaning those fork turrets you used here

Great looking build.
I finally started using one of those magnifying visors (like Leo Fender) and it makes all the difference in the world. I'm 63 and my close up eye sight has been getting worse over the years. I didn't realize just how much I couldn't see util I got the magnifier.

I'll say it does - you appear to have used 150V caps for your Ck caps FWIW - I guess the 25V caps were too hard to see? ;-)
(Nice build BTW)

I noticed the (2)50uf cathode cap values and tyed them because they came in the Weber kit. But i have removed the second channels cathode cap all together
It is much better and less bassy without the cathode cap and dials in decently
It's plenty LOUD for sure. I built this 6M18 TMB kit supplied by a customer in trade for the Traynor YSR1 amp i have shown in another thread
I love that old Traynor*

If you want to make it tighter even less bassy, try a 1000uf or even "more" on the cathode biasing cap. They say 150 to 500 there but on advice from some 18 watt guys, I tried a 1000uf and liked the tighten tone. Some guys use 2000uf @ 100v.
I need 250's just to read the values, 200 on the PC and if I need to set up a guitar, 300's
nice build, al

Your 100% right on loosing that 100uf bias cap. If i remember i have used 25-50uf caps but never a 100uf

There's a decimal point in there.
2.50
The number is really an ugly way to say "how far?"
> 2.50's just to read the values
2.50 power is 16 inches.
> 2.00 on the PC
2.00 power is 20 inches.
> to set up a guitar, 3.00's
3 power is 13 inches.
If your naked vision is good for infinity (you can see stars and street-signs), then the indicated power will re-focus your eye to the indicated distance.
>> 2.00 on the PC
> 2.00 power is 20 inches.
20 inches is rather close for PC, depending on chair and monitor. I like 1.25 or 1.5 for PC. Yes, 1.25 may be hard to find, and may seem hard to get used-to. It "isn't much" and isn't optimum for anything exCEPT a PC monitor. However I got bifocals with (my far-sight correction plus) 1.25 in top and 2.5 in bottom. I can recognize a blur at the end of the hall, I read the PC _very_ comfy, and I can look down and focus keyboard or calculator.
> to set up a guitar, 3.00's
If your eyes were young again, where would you hold the work? For very small work, like pickup winding wire, you may want more like 4 inches. This would be "10" in reading-specs, and you can't get a 10. However in magnifiers, 4" is "2.5X" which is easily available.
And BTW: in reading-specs, the powers add. If you can fit 2.5 over your 3.0 you get 5.5 power which re-focuses you at 7 inches.
You can also use the lenses off that useless film-camera. A 50mm lens is an excellent tool for 2-inch range. Put the front facing your eye and keep it at least 12 inches off your face. Hold the film-side near the work, about 2 inches, and move lens or work into focus.

Sometime ago I read that US Army has started a project to have something like lcd glasses
and those glasses when constructed will be able to have exact focus for each distance
I'm waiting
(at the moment I use 3 pairs of glasses one for large distance, one for middle and one for close, unfortunately I'm astigmatic - myopic and with age farsighted)

Yeah, just lazy.
My eye doctor told me if I use those magnifier glasses at the dollar store, to use the "least" I can get away with as the higher power the lazier your eyes will get as far as focus.
So your right about staying with 1.50 for PC even though 2.00 seem more comfortable. He says your eyes will adjust.
But he says best to get an eye test and go from there.
As far as fixing guitars, a big hobby of mine, it's seeing the 6" ruler on the twelfth fret "e" string, trying to see that 1/16" that's where I need 3.00's and that's at 12" with light.
I have no problem seeing distance, lucky me, just gettinmg old like all of us.
