Title: Kay 703-C
Post by: Stankfut on February 08, 2011, 03:19:42 pm
Okay...here we go!

What I know:  I plugged it in, it has a loud buzz, about 60hz and no guitar volume.  I expected as much.  It needs an iso tranny, three prong cord and caps.  I have read the other posts on the forum about 703's, but I have a few questions.....

My questions:  For the tranny, I'm thinking a Triad N-51X, my math says it will work, but I stink at math, so could someone double check me?  Second, are there any suggestions as far as filter caps?  I have a JJ 40-20-20-20 lying around, I know it will work, but is there something better?  Also, I have read there are grounding considerations to address when switching to a three prong cord, is that true?

Sorry for all the questions!

Thanks,
Steve

By the way, does anyone have any sound clips of these things?  I have no idea what it will sound like!

I have been using the N68X, slightly cheaper from Mouser.

Wow! Cheaper and BEEFIER (50VA vs 35VA).....you don't see that very often.
