Everything okay in your neck of Japan?

I am okay here in my area.
Pretty far from epicenter.

Getting pretty hairy with the nuke situation.
If it gets crazy, I'll be about packing up the family.

I am not exactly a religious type but for lack of words, send prayers for all those who didn't make it.
It's devastating.

I'll update if anything happens in these parts. Kind of edgy.
My little town/community is super tight and prepared;the oxymoron mandatory-voluntary firefighters for all men.
Thanks and take care.

Found this video at cnn.com
There's some pretty wild live camera action of the quake in progress
http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/world/2011/03/12/von.nhk.japan.miyako.nhk?hpt=C2

These still shots are pretty wild
check out the one with the pile of houses that were swept out to and on fire

Madison... Where are you in Japan?
My son is in Fuchu (Tokyo). He says it feels like 911 over there. Everybody is in shock. Now the nuclear plant issues are unnerving.

Your son has a much closer perspective than I do.
I am about 1.5 hours west of Osaka (Western Japan) up in the mountains;safe so far.
Moreover,I am up wind from the nuke plant that has apparently blown.

I don't know what is going on up there as far as people getting food and water, or exposure. etc. in the Tokyo area.
Not the place to be for sure.

Watching the Japanese news now.
They keep breaking in with quakes right in the nuke plant area.
Trying to make sense of it.
Not good.

Madison,

Are you and your family still alright? Can't imagine what you're going through.

LooseChange,

How about you're son?

My son went to Hakaido for a few days. He was going to return to Tokyo on Thursday but everyone said stay away. he decided to spend a couple of weeks in Osaka at the university.

Osaka is a good choice, I used to live there. My friends there only felt a tremor from earthquake, there was no significant damage.
Osaka is also fun!

We are doing better but mentally worn out.
Appears the situation is improving.
I tell you though, it quite stressful to even have the inkling of a cut and run situation or imagining the repercussions of Tokyo in a cut and run situation......damn nuke plants throw a monkey wrench into any planning.
Japan will rebuild and recover.
Everyone is/has been pulling together, absolutely top notch, and giving their all.
Thanks

LooseChange,

Glad to hear your son is alright.

Madison,

Glad to hear you and your family are doing a little better.

Japan will rebuild and recover.

Japan is in the thoughts and prayers of many people around the world, just like NZ.

Everyone is/has been pulling together, absolutely top notch, and giving their all.

I belive you, you know it's been on the news how after something like this happens there is often a lot of looting, yet there have been no such reports from Japan. That say's a lot about the country.
