I watched the latest R&R Hall of Fame show tonight and Leon Russell did "A song for you". Well, out steps John Mayer with a Strat and I am going - you have got to be fricken kidding me!!! A nice beautiful classic song and this bozo is going to screw it royally with his trademark all-about-me guitar wanking. Wow! Was I surprised. Some VERY tasty finger picking on a brief solo, some violin fills, and it sounded GREAT! What do you think?

I had to go see what Ole Leon was looking like these days.
Used to listen to the Carney album a bunch way back when.
Mayer did a great job on his solo.

Wow............. that was really nicely done! Mayer put some sweetness to that tune.
I had a chance to see Leon Russell last fall in Charlotte at the Neighborhood Theatre which was a perfect venue for him.
Time before that I saw him was in 1970 (I think?). Back in the days where Leon strapped on a Les Paul and stood on top of his grand piano playing Jumping Jack Flash.

Still the incredible entertainer and singer.
Thanks for sharing that! Tubenit
