Title: 5-way switch & dpdt switching
Post by: tubenit on April 12, 2011, 06:22:57 am
Guys,

Nothing really that special here other than to share what I've done on one of my Tele's that has DiMarzio FastTrack1's and  a Chopper pickup.

The S-S-S label is somewhat misleading because they are humbuckers emulating a strat pickup. I simply chose to use that label to distinguish from the dual coil side by side buckers.

I wanted a VERY clean tone out of the guitar as an option for when I needed a super clean almost Tele or acoustic type clean on a song.

So what I did was wire the neck pickup out of phase with the middle pickup. That way the neck/mid setting has a remarkably clean tone when I need that for finger picking or an acoustic/Tele type clean. I virtually never used the neck/mid setting prior to this.

However, the bridge/middle setting still has somewhat of that strat "quack" sound that I like alot.

For those of you who might want an editable schematic that you can change to record your own pickup and switching wiring, there are editable versions here:

With respect, Tubenit

EDIT:  I added a Cruiser neck pickup to one of my Tele's.  And rewired one of the DPDT switches to combine the neck and bridge together.
