Title: 6l6wxt ok for 135w UL twin?
Post by: bakerlite on April 12, 2011, 07:44:34 pm
Hey folks
I am looking for output tubes for my twin "fixer upper",

i have repaired the damage to the eylet board and some fly off leads and the transformer arrived today.

I'm dying to gt his amp going as i will be using it as my main amp for testing my pedals out that i have been building as i am hoping its cleanliness will lend itself well to pedals - especially if i am making changes to them looking to hear the difference before and after.

i read alot that folks dont like the JJ6l6GC despite the fact they are good for up to 600v which is useful in this situation.
The Sovtek 6l6wxt++seems too cheap!!

what do you think is a good bet for output tubes for this amp?

thnks

I'd go with the Sovteks. Heard alot of bad stuff 'bout JJ's. Personally got a bad JJ 12AX7 straight outta the box(brand new).

I was lucky to find some winged C svetlanas for about a third more of the cost.
i hope they were worth it!
