I have never scrolled down the main forum menu and really paid attention. Did not even realize this sub-forum existed. I thought I'd contribute a few things I have recorded over the years. They're covers and I recorded them with store bought equipment as opposed to my own builds - haven't done any recording yet with those but I just got a Behringer DI box that I amp itching to work with.
This is a cover of CSN&Y's "Ohio" I contributed to a fan based online tribute compilation CD. I think I recorded it about 10 years ago. All of the guitars and bass were recorded using a Marshall JMP-1 rack preamp with it's cabinet simulator output. The guitar was my '92 Les Paul Standard and the bass was a cheapo Epiphone. The mic was a Shure SM-57. The drum machine was a Yamaha RX-15. I recorded it on my old computer using N-Track Studio. The vocals are me. Obviously I did not have Antares Auto-Tune at my disposal. Heh. The bass is a little boomy but overall I was satisfied.

This second thing is a rocked up cover of an old country song called "Muddy Water". I think Stonewall Jackson (not the general) did it originally. Lots of people have covered it since - including Elvis. It was a staple of several bar bands I played in. The guitar was a 1984 Les Paul Custom with an EMG 81 bridge pickup and the bass was an old Fender P bass. The main rhythm guitar track (that starts the song) was an old Marshall 2204 half stack. The second rhythm guitar track was a Boogie MK II C. I think I did the lead work with the Marshall. This was recorded on a TASCAM 8 track cassette deck in 1994. Drums by the Yamaha RX15. Mic was a relative cheap Hi-Z Electro Voice. The reverb was one of those BOSS half rack units. That was a really great line of gear for what it was. I should have kept those.

I'm doing the apartment thing right now but I am planning to move to a house this summer. Once I have some space and can play with impunity I plan to record some more things.

Hey, that was really cool! Both were dripping with a southern rock flavor. A little gravel in the voice and I would have thought it was Jackyl! Nice job, looking forward to more.
I had/have a really nice Tascam 8 track also. I could never get it to sound any better than an AM radio.... :BangHead:

Yeah, allright! Rockin the blues. Very nice. I like the wha, like the lead. Like both songs. I used to play and sing the Neil song in high school and in my 20's in the bars.
But can you play Zydacajun? Just kiddin around, you sound great.
