Someone brought in a panel from a Bassman Tweed head and also some tweed-color grill cloth. Problem is the panel is painted black which shows through the grill cloth, making it look dark. I don't have another panel to compare with but we want the vintage Tweed look. Is the black panel OK or should it be plain wood colored?

Every tweed Bassman I've ever seen has oxblood grillcloth. In fact, I don't think Fender ever made a tweed head. If they really want that look, just paint the panel as close to the color of the cloth as you can find. It'll look great. It doesn't have to be "true vintage look" to look good.

OK thanks. It was easy to sand off the black and it made a big difference.
