Title: My Jam Room!
Post by: Platefire on May 19, 2011, 11:56:49 pm
I know it's not elaborate, nothing fancy and there are plenty of you with set ups 100 times better but this means a lot to me--even though very humble. I've always wanted my own jam room with equipment set up and ready to go to where you just walk in, flip a few swiches and get after it. Well with our nest empty these days and retired we took this bedroom and now it's a jam room. That's the wife's keyboard. We have a small 4 channel peavey PA system with two 1-10 cabs. My backup band is my own recorded backing tracks mixed from multitrack studio to the Digitech JamMan pedal running through one channel of the PA, two vocal mics through two channels and the keyboard through the other cannel maxes out the PA.
Guitar rig is the peadalboard, home made 1-10 cab with a Eminence Patriot Ragen Cajun with the revere 5DC3 amp on top. The guitar is a cheap Epiphone LP Special that my future son in law gave me recently--but to my surprise plays and sounds great just like my other LP's.
It's everything I always hoped it would be---the wife and I jam several times a week--great place to write songs and just jam out on the guitar by myself sometimes. Platefire

Looks pretty special to me Platefire. I'd say you've been blessed. Great setup.

Not only a music room but a wife to jam with... Man, that's heaven!

Thanks! I just had to show it off.  :icon_biggrin: Glad you guys like it. I find myself just going in there and sitting sometimes without doing nothing. Guess it's a good place to meditate to. Platefire

Hey Plate, that's great. I just did a similar thing last weekend, cleaning out 1/4 of my unfinished basement for this purpose.  I recently started up a new project with a couple other guys and we needed a space.  Yours is "Deluxe Accommodations" compared to mine, but I agree, it's a great luxury to have.  I'm enjoying having it all setup all the time.

That all looks great! Ours is in one half of our living room. My wife plays drums.

Big Boots... I like the plastic vapor barrier. Keeps the spilled beer inside.  :icon_biggrin:

Boots, I like the back line except in your case on the right side. Looks great! Cool looking amps and speakers there. The good thing is the basement folks rolled out the red carpet for ya :icon_biggrin:. I was in my living room too before I grabbed this room, so my house looks more like a house now. I've been making a concious effort to play at lower volume since I'm in a smaller room now but it ain't easy!  :dontknow:

Hay! If anyone else has a jam room they want to share, take some pictures and tag on. If you like to jam like I do, it's a big deal. Platefire

Ha! So true.  ...and it doesn't stain!  :occasion14:

Thanks Platefire, I agree, it would be cool to see some more jam space pix.

Color me jealous.  I've been searching high and low for a place to build a rehearsal / studio.  Right now we're using a place called Music Lab which we pay for by the hour.  It works but what a PITA to set up and tear down every single rehearsal.  Call me spoiled but I want to have a recorder set up at all times.  Not practical at Music Lab.

Our humble little setup. But we sure do have fun!

Hey John, you DO have spikes on the front of that bass drum to keep it from scooting across that nice floor, right?

Man, I am jealous of ALL you guys.  I am (was) set up in our living room too.  Plus I've got a ton of stuff still in the basement.  My daughter is graduating High School this weekend and it all had to go down in the basement...I thought a half stack looked good!  My wife didn't think family and friends would agree.  Looks like I need to find NEW family and NEW friends!

Hay John cool! My favorite one of your amps is the one to the far right with flowers on it. Could be a really hot amp  :l2: Thanks for sharing. We live in the country and my closest neighbor is 1/4 mile away--so no problem with volume at my house except with my wife

BTW-My wife use to have a problem with me playing all the time until I included her in the band, now no problem!  :dontknow:

Ritchie, it does have very pointy feet in front. ;)

Plate, we like that flower-holding amp too! And if you look carefully, there's the Harmony that started this whole thing for me. I remember looking inside the first time and being so intimidated I put it back together. Thought about it for a while and did the caps n stuff. Now I'm building the HoSo!

Of course, it's not making noise yet......

I was wondering what kind of amp that was. Looks pretty big like a 2-12. Is that Harmony's version of a twin? I've got an old 50's Harmony Lap Steel and also my first guitar in the 60's was a Harmony
Spanish acoustic. I latter put Kent pickups on it then becoming my first electric. Platefire

I remember reading somewhere that the Harmony (Valco) was a Marshall'ish amp. I think it probably does sound more like a Marshall than a Fender, but I sure don't have the ears or experience of most of you all. It is indeed 2 12" Jensen "special design" speakers that still sound okay. It uses 2 12ax7 and 2 EL84.

Very cool stuff!  It would be nice to have a jam room.
