Title: OT Layout Help
Post by: J Rindt on May 30, 2011, 01:16:35 pm
Wondering if I can/should keep this OT where it is. Just kind of wondering about the proximity of the Input Jack to the OT. If I am careful/creative with lead dress, is it likely to be a problem.? You need to Open the attachments to see the whole picture.
Thank You

shielded cable should make it ok.Are you re-using the switch-mode power supply? Bad idea. They are problematic in Crate amps.

Thanks for the good news  :think1:
Yeah, I was planning on using that S.M. Supply. I had originally planned on using a PT from a Fender Deluxe Rev, but the primaries are burned up. So.......I thought I would just use that existing Power Supply.
So these Crate S.M. Power Supplies are problematic you say.....?
OK....so now I am in the market for a PT again. Was just kind of wanting to do this "On The Cheap".
Thank You

The problem is that the power supply can shut down if the amp distorts too much. It's built in protection feature of the PS.They don't like fluctuations in voltage and tube amps fluctuate when the tubes demand more current.

It may be why most tube amps don't use a SM power supply.they are usually only found in solid state and bass amps.
