Title: Another intensely weird situation.
Post by: eleventeen on June 02, 2011, 03:33:52 pm
OK, this is insane! I need to buy some solder, and I'm not doing a heck of a lot of amp work these days. The little tubes of solder are very pricey, and if you're like me, you have (or used to have) a 1 lb roll of solder you've been working on for the last 6 years. Fine. a 1 lb roll of nice new Kester solder is $15 or $17 or $20 or if you really overpay, $25.

So why are two crusty old rolls of "B" brand solder (one of them really irritating fat diameter) going for over $300? It's not silver solder, it's lead-tin 60/40 solder, plain old ordinary everyday stuff, with some nice corrosion thrown in.
