I have an old Jensen, apparently from 1962 (220212), with the code P12RX. Does anyone know what this speaker is?
Thanks,
Dave

I believe it's a P12R with a smooth cone instead of ribbed. I could be wrong, but is the cone smooth or does it have the ribs? Probably a little more for the home Hi-Fi than guitar, but it wouldn't hurt to try them.
I think the R is rated at ~25 watts.

R = 11 watt original rating
X = eXtended range, designed for hifi apps

Huh, they were right here in Chgo. I didn't know that.
That was a fair amount of $$ back then for the big 15" and even the higher rated 12"
Thanks, FYL for posting that.

A large number of parts manufacturers were - some still are - based in Chicago: transformers, pots, speakers, etc. For instance CTS means Chicago Telephone Supply!

Well, at 11 watts, I guess it isn't worth having reconed. Oh, well. Anyone want it for the price of shipping before I throw it away?
Thanks,
Dave

A P12R sings beautifully in a small SE combo, Champ-style.

Hey FYL, where'd you get the Jensen catalog pic?
-
IF there is a collection of those Jensen ad/info sheets, they'd be a great sticky at the top of this Cabinets/Speakers forum!

Cut'n paste from a scan in my files. You may find similar material -and much more - at Hi-Fi Litterature
