Well I was digging through some stuff in the shed and found this. This was my first fuzz box bought in the late 60's from Allied Electronic for $15.00. Latter when the circuit went bad I converted it to an A/B switch box. See the old "Bob" Black light sticker :icon_biggrin:

Wow, I looked at the picture first and there was nothing in there! What the heck, what kind of fuzz is that!
Then I read what you wrote. I feel better now, thank you. :l2: Could that be the same chassis as the old fuzz - face? Sure does look like it.
Do you still use a fuzz? If so you got a very cool chassis with a very cool black light sticker on it, just waiting to be filled with a cool little circuit.
Hummm..... :think1:

Not a fuzz anymore. It got dignified and they call it distortion. Of course I know there is a difference
between fuzz and distortion.
The old kingston was a very weak buzzy fuzz and I didn't really know how bad until I started trying some other stuff out. Next I got a Univox Super Fuzz which was a lot more powerful and cool sounding. They bring big bucks these days. Next was a Big Muff that actually belonged to the bass player in the band I was in at the time. In another band I was in, I used the drummer "Nu Fuzz" which was fine sounding pedal with a lot of bottom that I liked a lot. After that I went into channel switching to use the distortion amp channel.
Now days I've got a big pedalboard that I use a Visual Sounds "Route 66" and also got a Ibanez Sound Tank "Classic Medal". I've got a smaller pedalboard that had a Morley "Vol/Wah/Dist" that's a good pedal. The Route 66 pretty much floats my boat!! :l2:

Yeah, Tone Quest Magazine pretty much puts the Route 66 in their top 10, along with many players they have interviewed over the years.
One of these days, I'd like to try one out for myself and see how I like it. I tend to play on the cleaner side of tone, but who knows, I just might like it in small amounts?

I used a friend Boss OD years ago, I think the old yellow one. That thing really sounded good. The way I had it set it sounded mostly clean but it gave the clean a nice punch. That sounds like the kind of thing you would enjoy. Platefire

Believe it or not, I think I might have one of those sittin in the basement somewhere? I'll have to keep an eye out for it.
Thanks Platefire.

The last Kingston Fuzz that went up for sale on ebay brought $22,485.00!!!! And you gutted it for an A?B switch?!?!?!?!!
Har! Just kidding! That would be MY luck! :sad2: I've got boxes of old stomp boxes and effects that are probably worth more than all my guitars and amps! Hey! I can now tell my wife all my music gear is for my retirement! yeah, that's the ticket!

Seriously! I've been selling off everything in storage and just sitting around not in use. Yes I'm retired. My house AC went out lately, had to take my wife to the Emergency Room, my daughter got married, had several repaires of my car, had to take a stress test, and so on--takes a lot of money to live now days. So if it's not nailed down or don't serve some kind of purpose, it subject for sell. :dontknow:
Regarding the Kinston fuzz--you made my heart sink when I first read the 22K until I realized you were pulling my leg! :l2: I did put the Kinston Fuzz Housing on e-bay with a $30.00 Buy in now and it sold in one night. I thinking I must of cut myself short now :BangHead: Guess it's got retro appeal!
I've got an old Art Effects Command Center (ECC) large floor effects pedal from the 80's in the closet I'm going to drag out, test and put on e-bay. Don't use it anymore so it may as well go. Platefire
