Title: Photography
Post by: RC_cola on June 25, 2011, 12:55:32 pm
I enjoy creating images so Im an audio/visual guy. I have taken pics of my musical buddies for a long time. Live music images is tough but fun since I really dont like using a standard flash unit, makes everything look flat. Getting saturated color is more appealing to my eye than an easy nasty flash pop look.

The second pic is Unkown Hinson, he is an awesome guitarist!

Cool stuff
Love the moving drummer parts.

The guitarist looks like a vampire!

Yes, thats Unknown Hinson, king of the country western troubadours but he is a rockin fool with a guitar. He is also the voice of Early on the Squidbillies cartoon.

The second link is my Youtube page, I have videos of several musician buddies from my area. We are blessed around here with very talented musicians. Now the two clips of the band at the county fair I do not personaly know. That was a most interesting performance too.

Nice images RC.

I'm an enthusiast too, and hate flash with a passion. I'd rather shoot at high ISO and get a bit of grain than use a flash. If only fast lenses weren't so damned expensive! ;)

Yep, thats Early. He plays small venues all over the country. You would not be dissappointed if you catch one of his shows. He also Plays guitar with the Boxmasters, Billy Bob Thorntons band. Speaking of Billy Bob, he just wrapped up a three day shoot for a new movie he is doing in the town I live in. It was a zoo around here for a few weeks! I live a half a block from where the production base camp was set up, it was crazy here!

Flash makes a flat lifeless image. At one time I made a handfull of flashes remotely triggered using color media on them, worked great. That was back in the film days, I will see if I can find one to share.

wow! are all those visible light via a microscope?

The top 2 are breast cancer cells imaged with a laser scanning microscope (~630x magnification, blue is the nucleus of the cell) and is visible light. The last one was done with a transmission electron microscope (~220,000x magnification) which uses an invisible tuned electron beam. The TEM is really just a huge half million dollar vacuum tube running at 80KV. Notice the scale bar at the bottom of the TEM micrograph...

it's a Sony NEX-5 with 1927 Voigtländer Anastigmat "Voigtar" lens. Cut from a Voigtländer VAG camera and modified to fit the Sony. I've been playing around with this kind of things lately.

Thats something I never expected to see, a bellows digital. Do you focus the digital to the lens on the bellows?

Do you have any pics to post made by this beast?

i focus it by moving it on the rail. since it is made for BIG film there is a lot of cropping. here's some pictures:

it has a lot of flare and very little contrast so i use photoshop quite a lot (i don't care about authenticity of pictures, i edit them until i like them best. i adjust contrast, colors, brightness...). but i like what this lens can do. from macro to tele, very sharp details but still dreamy photos.
