Got a Mig 60 Sovtek. great amp actually. I put the PPIMV on it and cranked it for 30 minutes sounded killer. smoked the 220 ohm 10 watt resistor that it uses as a choke. this amp has el34 and only uses 780ohm screen wire wound 5 watts. should I raise that to 1k and maybe use a 25 watt 220 ohm since its going to be used cranked all the time. ? fun amp. I love the tone even before i put the post pahse in there.
thanks y'all :worthy1: :worthy1: :worthy1: :worthy1: :worthy1: :worthy1:

If you are going to crank it all the time I would use 2k screen resistors and 100k for the bias grid leak resistors to help prevent bias excursion which is probably why your choke resistor fried.

thanks
how about the 220 ohm. I see some marshalls use 270 ohm 10 watt. would it benefit me to raise this ohmage and wattage. there is room for the larger wattage 220 ohm

Hi Jerry,
I think going to a rating over double what's been there should be plenty and what I'd do keeping things cooler and practically bullet-proof. The slight increase from 220 to 270 isn't that big a deal IMHO.

yeah cool thank you
this 220 ohm was not even 5 waTTS.
its a small brown 330 ohm from russia lol
