Title: Parts List for blackfacing a twin?
Post by: bakerlite on August 01, 2011, 01:59:04 pm
Hey folks
my brother in law is coming over on Wednesday but only for a day, He's bringing his 70's silverface twin which he wants me to blackface,
I am gonna drive to the city tomorow and pick up a few bits for it, i appreciate its a bit of an ask but i am wondering if anyone knows a ballpark selection of components to pick up so i wont be stuck - as i know every amp is different and can require a different resistor on the bias pot to get her in the right range - as i am paying over the odds for parts (in store prices suck i never usually buy from there but its a short notice favour and its not like i do it for a living so i dont have any real stock per say) i dont want to needlessly get stuff!
Also is the Push pulll MV easy to rip out?
Thanks

Here is a great site for modding and blackfacing fender amps:

Save the parts.  Try to be neat.  Don't just rip stuff out.  Make notes and include them with the amp.  I just un-Blackfaced a Twin and it was a pain.  Someday someone will want to restore it.
