Title: AC mains power regulator
Post by: Jennings on August 17, 2011, 09:32:26 am
I need to get a decent power regulator for running different amps.  I'm in the Uk and my AC wall mains voltage is 230v nominal (+10%/-6%).  I'm particularly interested in running 220v amps/equipment from China and Europe.  The results of overheat/overvoltage failures worries me if i stupidly just plug into the UK mains.  Anyone know a good cost effective ready-to-roll voltage regulator/step down tranny/variac unit to go for?  I want reliability, but not overpriced/over spec.

Bucking transformer. Look at page 2. This one is set up for 120VAC. Use as a guide and use an appropriate transformer for your 220/230/240VAC operation.

Wow!  Lots of handy how-to bits there...cheers.  Could be good, especially if it comes out cheaper than an off-the-shelf unit!  I'll have to do some costings.
