I'll try to put a my previous question in one other way
I want to obtain from existing amp schematics some preamp and Power amp
as far as I can know the circuit of a complete amplifier must be splitted before the PI to obtain a separated preamp and Power amp
I want to connect the preamps and the Power amps obtained this way to any commercial unit with the best results
so I was thinking about impedance mismatch and consequent sensitivity to noise, of course also signal levels are matter of the concern
I remembered one of the Merlin's FX Loop circuits
the circuit is designed to have an high input impedance of the send circuit as to don't give excessive load to the existing circuit and also a low send impedance to avoid problems of noise
at the same time the input of the recovery stage was think as to accomodate the low signals of pedals and high signals at the same time
so my idea to use that circuit as a general purpose for preamps output and Power amps input (meaning those obtained splitting existing circuits at the PI level)
what do you think about ? have you councils ?
Many thanks in advance
Kagliostro
p.s. This last days I was in Toscana in Montalcino, tasting some delicious wine, if you can give a taste to Brunello di Montalcino or any other red wine from the same area ............. you will not regret :d2:

Should work rather well

Used to work in a wine shop back in my uni days and got to drink quite a bit of top shelf stuff at a good discount. The boss back then insisted we drink a lot of wine in order to be able to talk authoritatively about what we were selling - many's the night I got plastered and ruined by liver. Brunello di Montalcino is classy stuff for sure. (But I have given up the booze for 5 years running now.)

Hi Tubeswell
Should work rather well
Thanks for your answer
Do you think that the level of output for the pedals is enough for the inputs of commercial power amplifiers ?
==================
There is only one error when drinking wine
The boss back then insisted we drink a lot of wine
You must never drink a lot, wine is not like beer and if you stop after two or three cups is enough to appreciate the taste without any other problems
Must also consider that the wine is paired with the dishes and there are also less full-bodied than reds wines of Montalcino, in my area, there are good whites wines, like Prosecco di Valdobbiadene, which are also suitable to be drunk between meals, without exaggerating ........... :occasion14:
personally I drink a little wine, and only at mealtimes, but I like to do it :icon_biggrin:

As long as the amp's input impedance is high enough, I don't see why it shouldn't work well.

I used to love wine. Problem with the wine shop job was we'd do staff tasting/training one evening every fortnight after work (this went on for about 5 years straight), and after you'd spat out the first 3 or so sips from various bottles, the alcohol had worked its way into your system and you didn't bother spitting it out any more for the rest of the night ;-)

You would be pleased to know, that a dear friend of mine, who is one of the most prepared gurus in guitar amps in Italy, is owner of 3 nice wine brands, and furthermor, some of his wines are rated 3 glasses in Gambero Rosso Guides.
Where are you form? I'm in Padova.

Hi Kagliostro,
Apologies for pulling this thread out of the crypt, but I wanted to see if you ever implemented this? If so, how did it work out?
I'm asking because I'm trying to work out how to run my analog delay pedal in the loop of my latest build. Currently I have a pot allowing me to drop the level down for the send, but I'm still trying to work out how to get the signal back up to respectable levels at the return stage. I had to pad it down for my analog pedal to behave (everything would work great with the delay bypassed, but when I would engage it I would get weird oscillation/feedback as I turned the gain up). The boss dd6 I have works fine in there, but the analog pedal (malekko 616 doesn't seem to like it). I can get the signal low enough for the Malekko to play nice, but then the volume is way lower than it should be on the return. Again, the boss works fine in the loop at pretty much any setting.
LMK how yours worked out, or if you have any newer ideas.
Cheers!

You say nothing about the amp you use and .... a schematic of that amp may be useful to understand better your situation
however now we are discussing something is far from my original post

Yes, I intentionally left the scheme out of my post (not wanting to resurrect then hijack a thread). I would create a new topic for my issue, but wanted to know if this loop worked for you for pedals with a reasonable return gain.
Did you wind up using it?
Thanks in advance.

Oh, what the hell. I always ask for forgiveness rather than permission. ;)
Here is the scheme.

Ah, I see .........
No that circuit wasn't tried, instead this one was used (with succes) in a 5E3 modded clone, it is Merlin's version of the Engl Fireball FXLoop
