Title: VOX AC30 preamp + 2 x 6V6
Post by: Leevi on October 06, 2011, 03:24:02 pm
Has anyone tried to use a VOX AC30 preamp + PI together with 2 x 6V6 power tubes?

The first amp I built was exactly that - based on the TopHat Club Deluxe. I since changed the power tubes to EL34s which are a bit more robust in the bass department. I played that amp on many gigs with a country rock band. Set the amp clean and used pedals for drive and boost.

Cheers Stephan

I changed the preamp to VOX since I was not satisfied with the previous circuit I tried.
It sounds better now but I noticed I have to decrease the signal level in the preamp.
I'm currently testing with a 12AT7 PI which seems to work fine.
