I've got a 2204 (JCM 800) I built 5 years ago...
It's always sounded thin even after many mods..
Recently I started a 100 watt Plexi.. About done I decided to insert make it a
master volume,, basically another 800,,(2203)..
This one has beautiful tone... Thick, full and very flexible gain , not grainy..
Just recently I up graded the main 2x 70 if caps on my
Super reverb to 2x 220uf,,, wow!!!
My question is this,,, if I double or triple the size of the
main caps in my 2204, will I see a huge improvement in tone??
Any suggestions???
Thanks..Crash...

I've always found the 2204 to be painfully bright w/o the obligatory 4x12 boxy cabinet. Much of the shrillness is designed into the front end. C1 = .68uF I like a 2.2uF or greater. C5, C6, & C8 can go away altogether. This gives back a lot of the body. This completely my subjective opinion.
