Title: VOX AC50 restoration
Post by: Leevi on November 14, 2011, 01:44:49 pm
I'm planning to renew the vinyl covering for an old VOX AC50 head and
am wondering how to operate with the strips. Can they be removed without damaging them?

You mean the decorative vinyl strips?

Tubesandmore.com has new "piping".

Probably this is the right part?
Thanks

I'm not 100% sure, but I think the correct part is the other Vox piping sold by AES/CE Distribution. At least, if you're talking about the gold piping that runs in two channels on the AC50 head.

Yes I mean that. What is the product (product number) you mean?

Since there is only 1x "other" Vox piping listed on that page, I think it is S-GP008

Exactly Geezer, that's the stuff I was talking about.

But this is not what I mean. There are two lines of metal strips going
around the cabinet. See the picture under the following link:

I have received now the VOX AC50 I bought one week ago.

Geezer and HotBluePlates you are right.
The piping is like you said, it is not metal.

Thanks

You're welcome. It's sometimes hard to tell an amp's build details until you have it in hand.
