Title: FET stage for gain boost.
Post by: phsyconoodler on November 21, 2011, 04:20:47 pm
can you use an FET like Dumbles use for a gain boost instead of a 10-20db boost? In other words can you make the FET overdrive and use it as a gain stage? The reason I ask is it's easy to build the FET stage and it would be a useful gain stage in an amp.Or at least I think it would.

Hi noodler, Found this on the net when comparing a FET input and a Op amp input as see in Duncans blue amp 112(schem in dougs library under MISC) they are saying that the FET is a nicer smoother sound.  Dumble fet was mainly to boost the input signal of acoustic guitar pups.Thats about all i know.  :icon_biggrin:
