Title: KT 120 tubes

Has anyone tried these "new" tubes yet. Was thinking of putting a pair in a Sunn 200s with a solidstate rectifier. Should give me about 575 volts on the plates.

Ernie,

The tube draws 100-300 mA more filament current than a 6550.  Diameter the same as a KT88.  About a 1/2" taller, check for headroom (har! har!) and you may not be able to use your retainers.  A buddy is using them in his Major for bass and it just goes and goes without breakup.  He said these things are from another world.  The Major is notoriously hard on its tubes.  He claims he can run it for hours dimed without a problem.  The price is certainly right!  The audio-apes are going nuts over it.  Two tubes pp for 150watts and not even breaking a sweat!  Whew, that kickin' some electrons!  I'm not sure I would like it for guitar as I like the harmonic breakup that the KT88 gets when pushed - but hey, that's me.  YMMV!  Let us know how it works for you.

My use is for bass and the Sunn P/T has the current to work with these tubes.

Wow,  I wonder how they would be in one of the big fender PS bass amps?  Those make between 300 to 450 watts anyway!
