Title: Tweed OD PLUS idea
Post by: tubenit on November 26, 2011, 06:43:11 am
Not built. Just an idea, but perhaps a cool one?  Worked on this concept with DaGeezer.

This would have a clean, OD & PLUS drive:

Clean
Clean & OD
Clean & PLUS
Clean & OD & Plus

There is a 12AY7 PLUS,  a  5879 PLUS, & a HRM PLUS  (each a different idea).

It has numerous tone stack switching options.

CHECK for ERRORS !!!!    Compare schematic with corresponding layout.  There are multiple pages on one schematic.

With respect, Tubenit

Tubenit/DaGeezer -

Great idea(s) to ponder.  I noticed on the TOD+ and the 5879+ that you are using the IRF820 instead of a tube.  I know that you have become fond of this component, as it saved you a tube in a build.  Would you not be able to get the effect that you are looking for, with a triode in the signal path in place of this component?  I figure in a new build/concept that it would be interesting to see how a tube would make a difference in your already amazing idea(s).  Maybe I'm thinking about it too much.  Keep up the good work.

Sure, a triode would work. Just requires another tube. Tubenit
