I would like to build a bandmaster in a combo with no reverb or tremelo and make a turrent board for it. I wanted to give dougs turrent program a try and an Ab763 basic would be a simple build with no tremelo or reverb.

There's one on my website but it's not for Doug's board program. You could just copy Doug's AB763 layout and chop out all the V2, V3, V4, and V5 circuit. Should be very easy to do.

What is it that makes a blackface bandmaster have less wattage than the blackface bassman? I already have a combo cab with a chassis. It has a custom faceplate like a jtm-45, with 2 volumes and a presence. No middle, I guess I could use the presence for the middle and the other volume for a master. I mention this as I think you may have a better suggestion for a layout. It is a 4 holer.

The iron.
Here's that AB763 Lite in the Hoffman style...
EDIT by sluckey... Fixed an error on the layout.

The OT is different, but the PT is the same? Have you ever heard one with a tube rectifier? I played through a 64 bandmaster last weekend and I liked it better than the bassman.

Agree with Ed, a bandmaster has a *substantially* smaller OT than a bassman.

I played with a guy back in the late '60s that used a Gibson 335 thru a Bandmaster. He could really nail that CCR sound with that combo.
I owned a silverface Bandmaster Reverb during the early '70s. It was big, loud, and clean sounding. It never sounded as good as that old Blackface Bandmaster.

That is what I am interested in building. I want to make a small head cabinet and build a AB763 with nothing but a normal channel. I will be adding an effects loop. I am interested in the loop Mojo is selling, but I read some are having problems with it. Something about having to change a resistor on the board. IMO, modulation effects ruin the punch of the circuit if running into the front. The PT is an easy choice, but the OT and Choke is a different matter. It looks as the layout Stuckey posted does not use a doghouse for the filter caps. I a going to attempt to use Doug's turrent program for the board, but leave off the bias pot as I like to mount them to the back alongside bias probes. In 64, I believe fender was using Schumacher transformers and SoZo has promised to provide me with some blue caps for this project which are supposed to be like the blue Mallory's
Anyone have any input on transformers as it will be running 6L6's. Also, tube rectification or SS. Most, if not all bandmasters in this era used SS rectification I welcome any and all input and opinions about part selection. Thanks.

Ed, take another look at this layout... http://home.comcast.net/~seluckey/amps/misc/AB763_Deluxe_Lite.pdf (http://home.comcast.net/~seluckey/amps/misc/AB763_Deluxe_Lite.pdf)
If you can drill the holes yourself, this is a no brainer. All my layouts are full size and meant to be used as a drilling template. Just print the layout full size (don't let Adobe Acrobat scale it!). Tape it to your board. Center punch the turrets (use the cross hairs). Drill away. Doug's turret swaging tool is a must (or build your own).
BTW, this layout is based on the Deluxe Reverb. The main board will be the same for any AB763, but the cap board will have to be wired differently for a Bandmaster.

Got it. Thanks. What size chassis did you use and where did you get it? I can punch my own. Is Hammond the best resource for chassis?

I did not build this 'Lite' version. My TDR is the same thing but with reverb. I built it in a Hammond 3x4x17 chassis and put it in a 5E3 tweed cab. I much prefer working in a chassis that's 2.5" x 6.5" x 17" (or 18"). Plenty of blanks around the net in that size.

Got this and thanks. You mentioned different wiring for the bandmaster. In the drawing from the doghouse connections to b and c are clear. Where would A and B connect. Does B go to pin 4 of the Power Tubes and A go to the center tap of the OT? Also, the filter cap values will be different will they not? The doghouse for a bandmaster is the same as a Super Reverb, is it not.
I am considering the deluxe as the build as I already have many 6L6 amps and El-34's. My only problem with the 6V6 is the lack of bass response, do you know of a solution for this. I have an Egnater Tweaker 15 watt (Cool Amp for china crap) but it lacks bass as well. I guess I am so used to my 66 Super Reverb and Fargen ole 800 Clone, 6v6 amps seem to weak in bass response. In volume, 22 watts compared to 40 watts is not much difference.
And while I mentioned the Tweaker, have you seen a schematic for this thing. Egnater will not send me one. It is PCB, so experimenting is out of the question. I need to know beforehand what I want to do.

From the original Fender schematics, the PT is the same, using a 125P7D, while the OT's are different between the two amps.

I hate to dredge up old threads BUT.....
WOW, does a layout like this exist for the Twin Reverb? I bought Dougs boards from a forum member back in 2004. Need to buy parts and load the board and finish the longest amp project of all time. Only 17 years in the making...
I think my Twin Reverb boards are set up for the trem that doesn't use the optoisolator. I'll take some pictures and post them.
BTW, while searching I found some of my old posts. Funny stuff reading stuff you wrote on the internet like 8 years ago.
I'm pretty sure
