Title: 6G6B Bassman cutting outwith treble on 10
Post by: Underwood on December 05, 2011, 05:32:11 pm
Anyone here of this? Everything works and sounds great otherwise, but I just turned the treble up to ten while the Volume was on 7 or 8 and it lost volume and started cutting out. Turned the treble down and it was fine. I did remove a .02 cap right before the phase inverter on the schematic that was recommended for better tone for guitar.  MAybe that has something to do with it?

What .02 cap are you talking about?the one across the plate resistor of V2? Hey Tubenit, pay attention to this one!

that would not do what you are describing I should think, but a bad treble pot will.An oscillation will cause this at certain frequencies too.do you have grid stopper resistors on the power tubes?

What he said. Clean or replace the treble pot. I don't see any .02µF cap in that amp.
