These guys have sort of modernized the Shamisen.(I am not "hip" to goings on, honestly. There are probably others doing the same)
Fun and fast.
A bit over the top at times for my taste but......that's entertainment.

Sanshin.
Not enough time for me to search for videos but this is pretty fun.
They even toss some "surf moves" in there.
This is the Okinawa sound.
Maybe you'll enjoy it.
Ok, I'll stop me blabbing here.
Peace.

Those Brothers rock!

Man, I thought that one Rising was GREAT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 That Sanshin Okinawa guy would make Jimi proud playin over the top of the neck.
The brothers can can play too.
It sounds like blues grass to me, and those instruments sound like banjos, albeit with only 3 strings and without the resonator on the skin.
What are those white rings on the brothers index and thumb for and what are they made of?
Knowing how much Doug loves banjo, I'll bet he'll love this music.

Hey Loose Change, I can hear/see those brothers playing with Frank and Flo/Eddy, can't you?
Man can't you just see the promo photo's for their new world tour?

Sounds way better than Banjo's to me for some strange reason

I think it's because there's no resonator on the skin? Less high end, less harsh sounding?
I wonder what the strings are made of? Are they steel or gut string?
FWIW, I just don't get banjo, never did.
Brad :dontknow:

Doug's just been envious of banjers ever since Uncle Daddy made it big in Deliverance.
-
Aaawwww, you don't know nuthin.

Maybe at the next family reunion y'all can record a duet of Bumblebee Twist!
-
I just thought of something, those instruments are fret less, so the strings must be a type of gut string.

"It ain't got six strings.....it's a dag gone banjo!"

( except for some people that have problems understanding Telecasters :icon_biggrin:)
This here song is the one they played at my weddin for me and the misses to do a jig to.
Kinfolk enjoyed.
Tom And Jerry - Crambone (Uncle Paco) (HQ Video) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IUvRSZN5rkY#)
Brad,
Gut strings I think.
Open type tuning if I remember.
In sevenths or something.
Could easily rip the blues surprisingly enough.
Really fun to play if you get a chance.

That's my all time favorite Tom & Jerry. Love it.
Uncle Pecos keeps breaking his strings and keeps stealing one of Toms whiskers for a replacement and poor little Jerry is horrified that Uncle Pecos keeps walkin up to Tom and pullin out one of Toms whiskers.
I don't know who did/sang the voice over for Uncle Pecos but he was Great!
