If he's dropped out of sight on the forum, it isn't the first time.  Sometimes he gets frustrated and lays low for a while.  However, his last activity was November 2011 and the last post shown is from September 2010.  That's weird...

I certainly hope that he doing OK.

I'm alive and well.  I'm just buried alive with my Photovoltaic design business.  I appreciate you guys thinking about me though.  I just answered Chip's email telling him I haven't had more than 4 days off in the last year or even touched a guitar or vacuum tube in that time.  I'm living on Starbucks coffee   I hope in the next few months that I'll get some leisure time.  I hope you all are doing well.

I work all the time too so I'm pretty dull.

Hi Barry, last we talked & emailed you had the 1st of three nasal surgeries and your wife also was very sick after suffering septic shock. I believe you two were on the mend, and this reply seems to confirm it? Good to see that "backyard avatar", it's been a while!

Hey fellows.  Yeah my lovely bride and I are both healthy at the moment.  Never ignore a kidney stone!  The dang thing could kill ya.   My nasal stuff is pretty much over after several surgeries.  Both kids are shooting for the Air Force Academy and I sure hope that works out.  We are really blessed.  By the way, anyone who says Solar doesn't pencil out (Bill O'Reilly) doesn't know what they are talking about.  I'm designing systems which make KWH for less than the utilities are charging.  That's working out.  I hope each and every one of you is living the American dream (or Canadian dream Phsyco, Ehh?) and smelling the roses.  Everyday that I wake up alive is wonderful.  I may be an overworked dull boy, but I'm a happy one.

Bill, do you need glasses to read yet old fellow?  I want to be Bill Creller when I grow up.  for so many reasons.  Those of you that know Bill know why I say that.  He's a true renaissance man.

That's not a fair statement. He's not against solar power. I'm sure he would be glad, as am I, that your designing systems that will work, but design is different than having the system on line and with proven numbers to back it up. Well all be grateful when that happens.

Brad, I'm not just designing systems, I'm monitoring their production after start up.  I am monitoring megawatts worth of PV and they are all making energy for less than it costs to purchase it from the utilities.  PV has been viable since the price per watt went from $14 to $4 and that happened 5 years ago.  Bill O'Reilly is out of touch with the current state of PV and that is evident by his continued non-viable energy form comments.  You have to understand how the for profit utilities work.  First of all they make massive profits on delivering the energy to your site and secondly they staff the board of the Public Utilities Commissions in each state with their own personnel so they can raise rates whenever they want to.   Add to that, colluding with companies like Enron to perpetuate the fraud of short supplies with rolling black outs and such, they have their way with the market.  They are now driving the "Only the wealthy can afford solar and the poor must shoulder the burden of distribution" to try and stop net metering in many states.  I am a libertarian who believes the federal government should be teeny tiny with state and local doing the real work but there are two things I thing the Feds should handle.  Military and energy.  Energy is just too important a resource for any nations growth and well being to leave in the hands of profit whores.  You can right now build a system that produces a kilowatt hour of energy for 7 cents.  Try to find that with any utility.

Good info on the current state of solar
I guess China had a huge hand in the lower hardware prices?

Thats's funny, I've always thought Bill O'Reilly was an expert on things technical.  Of course there can be no doubt he's speaks for the working guy.  Solar is yet another thing that could eat away at the profits of big energy.  'Drill, baby, Drill!'
