This is my first Tube amp build and I have chosen a 5E3. (Traditional lay out, not Hoffman. Found out about his layout after the parts were ordered. Next time..) I have accumulated most of the parts and have some local contacts for help but want to do as much as I can without putting them on the clock.
Some of the parts came from Hoffman and this forum looks great. Almost too much to get through.
Right now I am confused on what gauges to use where in the chassis. I see 18 ga through the power tubes and 20 ga from power tubes to preamp tubes from the Amp Library on the main Hoffman site.
What about the rest of the amp? Wires to pots, to ground?
I did a forum search and did not find the answers but did find references to "Hoffman's laws" and it appear that there were several. Is there a sticky thread or main site page where these are listed?
Thanks for any time and assistance. This is something I have wanted to do for decades but it is pretty daunting. (first thing I bought was a fire extinguisher if that gives you any ideas of my thoughts and concerns... :icon_biggrin:

22 gauge cloth is what most people use.Hoffman has that and the quality and price is hard to beat.
I'm in Canada and my last order from Doug was here fast.
I prefer the Fender layout myself,as it fits better IMHO.

I ordered Cloth 22, Teflon 20 and cloth 18 from Hoffman. Just wasn't sure where to use what.. So thanks for the reply.
Doug's store system is pretty amazing actually. It is pretty obviously all home grown but works like a champ (no pun intended). Super fast delivery and everything was exactly as it was supposed to be.
Most folks would have used an off the shelf shopping cart system but it looks to me like he designed his from the ground up.
Then again, what else would one expect from him..
