I was going through the library and saw Hoffmans suggestion on wiring hi/low jacks. It looks like he relies on the chassis to jack contact for ground. (http://www.el34world.com/charts/images/jackwire2.jpg)
Is this the way most do this? Looking at the Ceriatone layout I was working from, it looks like they wire the ground tabs to a chassis ground. The Hoffman pic certainly looks simpler.
Thanks for your thoughts and comments

Maybe 50/50.
Classic US practice is to ground metal input jacks on chassis.
There are also plastic jacks which must be grounded via wire.
Either way can work fine.
