Title: TOS question for Tubnit
Post by: Tone Junkie on April 30, 2012, 03:39:48 pm
Im looking at setting up my front faceplate and noticed the clean volume is now a chime how does that work. Should it switch in like the old clean volume or is it on its own switch that would be in on both clean and overdrive or out of both.
Thanks Bill

Bill,

If you look closely at the schematic..... note the PAB dpdt switch. I am using each half of the DPDT like a SPDT.

When the PAB is switched on, it somewhat removes the bass and mid controls from the traditional Dumblish tone stack. Hence the pre amp boost.

Since I make the PAB workwith a SPDT,  I used the other SPDT (meaning the other half of the one DPDT switch) to engage a tone shaping function after the V1b triode. It effectiveness is subtle, but it has a different tone & I like it ALOT. I think it is smoother sounding.  I use the chime tone pot more than the regular Dumblish tone stack.

Hope that helps.   With respect, Tubenit

Hey Bill, Its a must have, i've called mine "CRUNCH" and it does have a different voice to D sound. I also have a three position rotary switch that bypasses the master volume to give me a CLEAN (master vol in), CRUNCH (master vol out) and OD (master vol out)channels. Great amp
