A client of mine has an early Peavey 5150EVH 120 watt 4x12 rig that needs new tubes. Have any of you tried Electro-Harmonix 6l6's in one of these amps and if so, like or dislike? The price is right for such tubes compared to say Winged "C" brand tubes which are about double.

I have been using them consistently, not with that amp but with every other amp. I use them for replacements for customers repairs as well. Never a problem with them and seem to take a beating. With that said, they're just like every other brand out there. Once in a while you will get a dud.

Hi,
I have found that the real Svetlana tubes, usually called Winged C or SED, sound quite nice in my amps. A bit less ear fatigue and more full bodied then Electroharmonix or Sovtek. Still, the Electroharmonix are a rugged tube and work well. You can't beat the price. I have had good luck with Russian tubes in general. I use both EH and SED 6L6's and EL34's in my own amps.
