OK ok, you probably think the song choice is corny but it's yet another example of Beck's unbelievable mastery of his instrument. I can't decide which of these two versions I like better. The first doesn't have the string section (meh... ), but in the second he seems to do even more with harmonics.

Jeff Beck - Somewhere Over The Rainbow (Live) (HD) May 2010 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LJqrNAkndd0#ws)
Just listened to them again and while I like his playing better on the second version, the strings are just irritating to me.

I like the first video better also
There's several from that same concert on youtube that I have seen
All those harmonics at the 50 second mark are awesome

Man, that song isn't corny, IMO. I've always thought it was a beautiful song including the original version Judy Garland sung.
And Beck's version is super cool!

To me, that kind of stuff is way more impressive than the 1000notesaminute shred stuff.... but that's just me.
Also, he didn't look happy with the piano player.
Never forget an interview I saw - mighta been posted here - but he kept reaching out to touch his guitar, as if to make sure it was still there or something. The man's a wizard for sure!

Both fine versions, and definitely nothing corny about that song. The movie, maybe, but that song is one of the great pieces of American pop music from the early part of the last century. Great song.

I heard this live when he came to town two years ago. While interesting.... I don't know, it didn't blow me away.
Maybe because I can not get past this guy.

Priceless!
