Title: 5E3 box, 6g3 tone stack
Post by: Ed_Chambley on August 21, 2012, 01:47:31 pm
I have been reading about volume mods on a 5e3 to 6g3 deluxe.  Looking at the schematics it looks like it may require a dual 1m pot on the tone knob and the addition of 220k resistors and change the .1 caps to .02 and so fourth.  I have seen on other forums where people just use a single tone pot.  With a single tone pot won't there still be some interaction in the volume controls and also the cap value on the separate tone control, the bright being a .02 and the normal being a .01 cap not be possible.  I am not concerned with the tremolo, I just have an old 5e3 I never use as it doesn't do cleans very well.

I am going to do a few amp mods and I would like to make this one sound more like a Brownface if possible, but still keep it cathode bias.

This will probably help with visualizing the 5e3/6g3 thing.

That is what I thought.  I saw a drawing at the ampgarage and it used one tone pot.  Thanks for the image.  Makes it easy.
