It's a tapping instrument, with real strings you can bend/vibe, set up kinda like a piano.
What do you guys think? I'm not sure. :dontknow:
I wonder how much the PUP (what ever it is?) is affecting the tone?
There's more vids out there, some get some pretty good sounding string sections by using verb and delay. Could be nice for backing tracks or live if you don't have a keyboard player? I wonder if you could get some pedal steel sounds out of it?

I'm thinking the PUP they use is some kind of acoustic type and not a 1 made from a coil of wire and magnets?

What do you think about the instrument itself?
Stevie Wonder said he bought 1 and is writting songs on/with it.

At first, I thought the 5-sided cover plate near the "bridge" might cover a long pickup, but on the website's Features page (http://www.marcodi.com/product/features/), they indicate there are individual piezo elements embedded in each string saddle.

I'd bet someone could figure a way to get some form of steel-like sounds, but you're missing the pedals. Depends on how creative the player gets with workarounds.
Then again, look at Will Ray, playing with two "mini-slides" on his fretting and picking hands, and a couple of Hipshot benders.
